Professional Development Workshops

Purpose of the Workshop
To provide opportunities for participants to assess and enhance
their knowledge and skills as Hispanic professionals in today�s Verizon. The workshop explores some of the unique challenges and contributions that Hispanics
can make in their organizations as well as learn and practice tools for becoming more effective and successful in their roles.
Topics explored and educational approach
Everyday leadership skills; the changing environment in the new organization;
Latino identity, styles, and work dilemmas; managing conflict, differences, and cross-cultural communication; career and professional development; and empowerment
and support networks. Participants will also apply their learnings to their situations at work and to develop action plans for their on-going professional development.
A variety of activities such as small group work, readings, discussions, and experience-based exercises will be used to create an environment conducive to learning.
If you want to do some or all of the following, then this workshop is for you
- Identify key competencies and explore strategies for the professional success of Hispanics in the new Verizon;
- Increase awareness of own strengths and personal styles, and assess their impact on others;
- Identify key aspects of Hispanic identity and discuss the challenges and contributions it makes in organizations;
- Explore the similarities and differences among Hispanics as a group and with other groups;
- Practice skills for managing conflict, differences, and cross cultural communication;
- Learn about professional development strategies and tools to apply on the job;
- Develop action plans for the future that reflect a commitment to on-going professional development; and
- Identify networks of support to strengthen own professional competence and development as a Hispanic Verizon employee.
