Advancing Hispanics Leadership Workshop |
This workshop is a unique opportunity for Hispanic professionals to explore the challenges they face and the contributions they make in your organization, and to assess and enhance their skills as a manager. This workshop offers Latinos and Latinas a rare chance to collaborate with other Hispanics who are facing similar organizational challenges. Being in an all-Hispanic environment for five days allows deep, candid exchanges to take place among participants, who typically work in settings where they are more isolated. We explore ways to minimize the chances that our differences will be misunderstood and maximize our potential to contribute to the organization. Participants leave with an action plan for career development and a support network that can help achieve their career goals.
Throughout the week we work the following topics from the unique perspective of a Latino/a: | Everyday leadership competencies—what they are and how to practice them; | | Latino styles, identities, and work issues—how to get the most out of yourself and your colleagues; | | Personal styles—what’s my difference? Discover yours with the Keirsey Temperament Sorter; | | Cross-cultural communication—are there cultural differences you can use? | | Work dilemmas—practice approaches to becoming an effective Latino or Latina in your organization; | | Career and professional development strategies you must know; | | Networking essentials—how to get help climbing the ladder; | | Individual action plans—create your vision and make a commitment to follow through. |
