Chaos is not utter confusion. Chaos is constrained, rather than explosive instability.

Latinas at Work
Journeys to Leadership

This collaborative study—sponsored by Chaos Management, Ltd., The Center for Gender in Organizations, Simmons College, Fielding Graduate Institute, and Working Mother Media—explores the career development and leadership opportunities of Hispanic women in U.S. corporations. Despite the growing number of Latinas in professional and management positions—estimated at 7 million today—little is known of their unique experiences, the issues they face, and the strategies they use to manage their career success or derailment.

By gathering qualitative data on the career and leadership issues through interviews and focus groups with Latina professionals and managers, the study will:
Illuminate and increase awareness of the barriers and enhancers to Latinas career and leadership development;
Explore the similarities and differences that cultural and social factors contribute to Latinas career development;
Develop specific recommendations and garner support for programs and policies geared to advance and promote Latinas contributions in corporations.

Principal investigators in the study are Evangelina Holvino, Ed.D., president of Chaos Management, Ltd. and Plácida Gallegos, Ph.D., a social psychologist and faculty member of Fielding Graduate University in the School of Human and Organization Development.
